Water Weight

Whether you like legs, breasts or some other part of the anatomy, one thing is for certain.  We don’t need a lot of water weight on our birds!  Of course, I am talking about the amazing chicken we sell at Olde Towne Butcher.

You see, most chicken is dredged in ice cold water to quickly cool the temperature and preserve the meat.  Some even has extra water added to make the chicken more “moist”.  The big name chicken at your local grocer has more than 15% water added, and it says so right there on the label.  Top that off with any extra trimming that you may do before cooking and you’re paying a lot of money for salt water and scraps!

The poultry we sell is air chilled and has no water added.  That means the amazing chicken you’re buying from Olde Towne Butcher is moist and delicious because it is just that good.  We also take the time to do extra trimming so that everything you take home is ready for cooking and you are not wasting time and money on scraps you don’t want.

Top this off with 100% humanely raised animals and no added hormones or antibiotics, and you know you are getting better, heathier chicken.  Stop in the store and pick some up!

Quick and easy cooking:  You don’t need a fryer to cook amazing chicken wings.  Just toss your wings in your favorite seasonings (like Olde Towne Butcher blackening seasoning) and stick them in the oven at 425 degrees for about 30 minutes.  They’ll come out nice and crisp and cooked perfectly.  Better yet, put them on your hot charcoal grill and turn them a few times and you’ll add that great grilled, smoky flavor!
